My Story

Dante R. Brizil has been a social studies educator for the past 18 years in Maryland and Delaware. He earned a Bachelor's degree in History from Hampton University in Virginia, and a Masters of Arts in teaching from Wesley College in Delaware. A native of Philadelphia, he is a die-hard fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. His hobbies include reading, writing, and traveling. He resides in Delaware with his wife and children.

A life-long history buff, Brizill has always been passionate about helping young people recognize the contributions of all Americans. I wanted to share my love of History in a way that would get our youth excited about the past. You need to know the past to understand the present. I want my books to impact the future.

In 2018, I achieved a life-long dream of writing and publishing my first book, Dorie Miller: Greatness Under Fire. Since the publication of that book, The U.S. Navy announced that it will be building an aircraft carrier in Miller’s honor. I followed up in 2020 with the publication of Red Ball Express: Greatness Under Fire. Last in the series is "African American women in WWII: Greatness Under Fire. I am passionate about telling the little-known stories that have impacted our world.

My writings have appeared in the Delaware News Journal, Historynet.com, the Cecil Whig, the Richmond Times-Dispatch, the Dallas Morning News, the Philadelphia Inquirer, and WWII Quarterly. I also appeared on Fox 45 Baltimore, WJBR Delaware Public Radio, and Maryland Public Radio.
